Passwords, 2FA codes, addresses, private messages — your clipboard is your most sensitive data stream. That's why Pasteable is local-first and end-to-end encrypted: your history stays on your device, and when you choose to sync, our servers only ever see ciphertext. We couldn't read your clips if we wanted to.
Local-first by default
Your history lives in a SQLite database on your device. No account, no internet, no server required — it works fully offline, forever.
Encrypted at rest
Clip content is encrypted in the local database with a key sealed by your OS — macOS Keychain, Windows DPAPI, or Linux libsecret. Copying the file off your machine reads nothing.
End-to-end encrypted sync
Sync is strictly opt-in. Clips are encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM before they leave it — our servers only ever store ciphertext.
Your key, not ours
The sync key never leaves your devices in the clear. Not us, not our cloud provider, not anyone with a subpoena can decrypt your clips.
Sensitive content protected
Password-manager output is skipped automatically, detected secrets are blurred in the shelf, and you can exclude any app from capture entirely.

What’s the Lifetime license?
Lifetime is a one-time $59 purchase that unlocks every Pro feature forever — no subscription, no renewals. It includes all future Pro features, the same E2E-encrypted sync and shared boards, and works across all your devices. Buy it once from Settings in the app.
How does the AI work?
Semantic search runs on your device and works offline. Pro also includes hosted AI actions for summarizing, rewriting, explaining, translating, extracting, and OCR. Pasteable manages the model securely, so there are no API keys, endpoints, or local model servers to configure. Cloud AI only receives content when you choose an AI action.
What platforms does Pasteable support?
Pasteable runs natively on macOS (Apple Silicon), Windows (10 & 11, 64-bit), and Linux (64-bit). iPhone and Android companions — with a full keyboard, home-screen widget, and one-tap capture — are in final testing and launching soon. Join the waitlist at the bottom of this page to be first in line.
Windows says “Microsoft Defender SmartScreen protected your PC” — is the installer safe?
Yes, the installer is safe. Pasteable is a brand-new app, so Windows shows a temporary SmartScreen warning until it builds reputation with Microsoft. We’re shipping Authenticode-signed builds to clear this automatically. To run it now: click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. On macOS, the first time you open Pasteable, right-click the app and choose Open (or run `xattr -cr` on the .app), then confirm — signed, notarized builds are rolling out to remove this step.
Is my data sent to the cloud?
Only if you choose to. By default, everything stays on your machine in a local SQLite database and works fully offline. If you sign in and enable sync, your clips sync across your devices — end-to-end encrypted — so you can copy on one and paste on another.
How much history does Pasteable keep?
By default, Pasteable keeps the last 90 days and the most recent 5,000 items — whichever is more generous — and it’s fully configurable in Settings. Favorites and pinned clips are never auto-deleted, and removing a favorite gives it a fresh 90-day grace window before it can be cleaned up.
Will it slow down my computer?
No. Pasteable is built for performance: virtualized, paginated lists (it only loads and renders what you scroll to), FTS5 search indexing, batched queries, and minimal background overhead — so it stays fast even with tens of thousands of clips.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Pasteable is offline-first — your history, semantic search, collections, and snippets work with no internet connection. Sync catches up when you reconnect; hosted Pro AI actions require internet.
Can I export my data?
Yes. You can export and import your database, and create backups at any time from Settings. Your data is always yours.
